Illustration exhibition - Vicenza, Italy

In the summer of 2018, I was invited to participate in a seasonal exhibition at the Gallerie D’Italia in Vicenza, Italy. The event was a massive collective showcase titled Gallerie Summertime, featuring over 170 works by selected illustrators from around the world celebrating sports, cinema, music, and travel. I contributed a series of four illustrations focusing on true legends of the game: Pelé, Maradona, Rossi, and Samuel Eto'o. It was an incredible milestone to have my work chosen for the international lineup, and especially proud to see my illustration of Pelé selected as the central feature for the event's official posters and venue banners.

Gallerie Di' Italia Vicenza.

The venue itself added an incredible backdrop to the project. Housed inside a striking baroque palace in a city defined by Palladian style, the Gallerie d’Italia in Vicenza is steeped in classical history. There was a great, raw contrast in seeing modern, high-contrast football illustrations hanging inside a space dominated by historic architecture and classical art collections.

The exhibition took place within the Palazzo Leoni Montanari, a late 17th-century mansion renowned as the only true Baroque residence in the city. The palace is home to major permanent collections, including 18th-century Venetian masterpieces and historic art pieces. Dropping a contemporary graphic series celebrating modern icons like Pelé and Maradona directly into a setting with that much structural history made the entire showcase a fantastic milestone for the studio.
